Parents, Alumni, Supporters and Fans, thank you for taking the time to look at our site and support our Wrestling Program!
It is quickly becoming that time of year, where gymnasiums are filled from wall to wall with mats. Whistles blowing, wrestling moms cheering, coaches yelling over the cacophony and kids learning to compete in the toughest sport out there. I can tell you, it's my favorite time of the year!
We appreciate the time parents, fans, supporters and coaches put into cheering on the athletes of Bennett Wrestling Club. Putting in the time, being actively involved in the Wrestling Club are essential, even the bare minimums, for success in this sport. Athletes have to put in time. Coaches, parents, supporters also have to put in time to help the kids be successful. Involvement is essential.
Indeed. All sports programs run two important items. Time and money. They are absolutely critical to keeping Programs going to allow for opportunities for our kids.
Bennett Wrestling Club needs your help. Yearly I get asked, "Coach, how can I help." In truth, the answer is very simple. We need supporters to donate their time, or to donate money to help the Bennett Wrestling Club continue to function. Both are valuable. We are always in need of them both.
When discussing the need for financial donors, it becomes important to better understand the Bennett Wrestling Club and how it works for the community.
Bennett Wrestling at the middle school and high school levels are zero funded programs. For nearly 15 years the Bennett School District 29-J has been a zero funded club and athletics school district. What does Zero Funded mean? It means our local school district does not provide money for our programs for uniforms, equipment, travel, tournament fees, facility use and janitorial fees, etc. Each club and sport are required to self-generate the necessary income to run entire sports seasons without district aid.
The Bennett Wrestling Club was established to help facilitate this. The Bennett Wrestling Club, BWC, has for nearly two decades taken on the role of providing for athletes of all ages who compete within our community. We in the BWC do not view our athletes as individual entities (youth, middle school, high school, college) but instead understand that today's fifth grader will soon be tomorrow’s high school junior. The BWC then invests in, promotes and develops wrestling for all levels within our community. Yearly the BWC, as a nonprofit organization, seeks to generate the funds necessary to run 3 age-based programs year-round. The BWC provides funding for all youth events and needs in our Little Tigers youth program, for the Middle School and High School Programs as well. It's a large burden, but one is necessary to give all kids the opportunity to wrestle.
In zero funded programs, teams need to generate funding for:
Team Equipment (warmup top, warm up bottoms, singlet, shorts, shirt)
Practice Gear (Shorts, shirt)
Practice Equipment (Radio, Timers, Rehab bands, Exercise Equipment)
Medical Supplies (Athletic Tape, Braces, Splint, Slings, Nose Plugs, Blood Stoppage, Ice)
Tournament Fees ($200 to $500 per event. Three Events each weekend from November to March)
Travel Costs
Hotel Fees
Facility Costs
Tournament Hosting Fees
Practice Facility Fees
Janitorial Fees
Mat upkeep
Mat Replacement
Each year we ask for generous donations from our Sponsors so we can, in turn, continue to offer the best in-class wrestling opportunities to our athletes, preparing them for success in years to come. These athletic opportunities offer invaluable skills and qualities that kids can use far beyond their school years. Self-confidence, integrity, work ethic, goal setting, accountability, winning and losing with grace and a sense of community are just some of the benefits developed in our youth through wrestling. The BWC understands there is more to wrestling than just winning and losing and the need to provide sports, specifically wrestling, to achieve those ends.
Your donations will help cover the cost of providing wrestling to our community. More importantly your donation will allow the BWC to focus on developing our athletes. Your generous donations are earmarked for the purchase of:
